Project Description
The goal of this project is to bring the Colorado outdoors into the Polhamus Park band stage as a colorful backdrop for musicians or performers. As Polhamus Park is used for important community, town gatherings, the image should embrace Colorado flora and fauna as a departure point. The stage is shaded, so the artist must consider the use of light and color for the visibility of the mural. We encourage artistic freedom but artwork must not include nudity, sexual innuendos, racial/sexual orientation slurs or inappropriate language. We want art to promote unity, not division. The intended audience is the Granby community as a whole, including small children.
The mural is located in Polhamus Park, 1-99 W Jasper Ave., Granby, CO 80446. The concrete band stage will be prepped with sheets of plywood primed and ready for the mural on the interior back wall of the stage. The dimensions are 10 feet high and 30 feet wide. The stage is covered and often dark or shaded, which artists should take into consideration when considering design.
Awards and Funding
Artists that are selected by the Granby PAC will be notified by email. The funding available for this project is up to $4,500 and artists are responsible for providing all materials required to complete the project. The artist cannot begin installation of the mural until the design is approved, and all required liability and contract forms are completed and submitted. If the artist is under age 18, a parent or guardian is required to sign the artist contract form.
